Determined to help others with hearing loss, she pursued Audiology at University of Iowa. She recieved her BA in 1973, Masters in Audiology in 1975. Doctorate from Arizona State University of Osteopathic Medicine in Audiology 2001.

Educational Audiologist through Heartland AEA#11 from 1975 to 1977 for Carroll, Audubon, Guthrie & Dallas counties

Dr. Hobson has written several published articles on hearing loss, and has presented at several National Conferences and State conferences. Worked with the Deaf Jr. Commssion teen workshops for several years.

Law Enforcement training video was developed with  Des Moines Police Department, Deaf Services Commission of Iowa, Central Iowa SHHH, Iowa Association of the Deaf, Domestic Violence Coalition, and others

Served on the Hospital Communications Access Taskforce for Greater Des Moines Area, Medical Assistance Advisory Council as well as serving as Chair in 1995, and the Taskforce for Iowa Courtroom ADA Accessibility
